The Ohio Northern women's basketball team received extremely strong play from its bench Saturday against John Carroll. The Polar Bears claimed a 62-55 victory, as their bench outscored the Blue Streaks' 41-0 inside the ONU Sports Center
"They were outstanding," ONU head coach Michele Brand said. "We pride ourselves on being able to play 10 girls. I don't get focused on who starts or who comes off the bench, but (the bench) did a really great job tonight. They really helped us out."

ELMORE - The Ada A wrestling team finished 12th out of 32 total teams at the Woodmore Classic last weekend.
Host Woodmore won the event with 252 points, followed by Defiance Ayersville in second (207). Ada scored 74.5 points to come in 12th out of the 17 A squads.

ADA - Host Ada got off to a fast start and went on to beat Perry 56-34 in a non-conference girls basketball contest Tuesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped to a 16-6 lead after the first period as freshman playmaker Courtney Sumner poured in 11 points. Spunky Perry managed to stay within striking distance, down 10 at halftime.
But Ada reeled off 10 unanswered points to begin the third period, and was never threatened again.
The Bulldog girls improved to 5-7 overall with a victory that avenged a 49-43 loss at Perry a month ago. Meanwhile, the Lady Commodores fell to 3-8 with the defeat.

CELINA - Bulldog senior Klava Katayama won two events to pace the Ada swimmers at the annual 15-team Celina/Wapakoneta Lions Invitational meet Saturday.
The Lady Bulldog swimmers finished seventh out of 15 schools with 64 points, while the Bulldog boys came in ninth by scoring 34 points.
Katayama captured first in the 50 freestyle, and also touched first in the 100 butterfly.
Ada freshman Carlie Oldfield posted third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle.
Wildcats sank 26 field goals, 12 of which were 3-point baskets

ADA - Visiting Kenton outscored Hardin County rival Ada 48-22 over the middle quarters to pave the way to a 70-41 non-conference girls basketball win Saturday afternoon.
Kenton ended the first half on a 21-6 flurry to help turn a one-point deficit into a 17-point halftime cushion. A 10-0 Lady Wildcat run in the third period then put the game out of reach.
The Bulldog girls fell to 4-7 overall with the defeat. It was their first game in a week after winning the Border Battle tournament. Meanwhile, Kenton improved to 4-4 with the victory.

ADA - Host Ada ground out a defense-oriented 44-35 win over New Knoxville in a non-league boys basketball battle Saturday night.
The Bulldogs pulled away from a low-scoring 13-12 halftime score with a 19-7 third period burst. The purple and gold never led by less than eight points in the fourth quarter and went on to post their fourth win in five games.
Ada improved to 5-6 with the victory. NK dropped to 2-7 after their fifth consecutive loss.
