Story and photo by Monty Siekerman
Sometimes a photographer has to be patient to get shots he wants.
Monday morning, almost two weeks into Spring, was the best chance for snow pictures since last fall.
- Bring on the snow photos - lots more at the bottom of this story -
Sure, Ada saw snow throughout the Winter, but not one that clings to trees and shrubs, set off by sunshine.
Patience pays off in getting just the right smile from a child, or a flock of birds landing in just the right place, or a basketball player making a fantastic layup.

Deb Curlis has been hired as Ada Area Chamber of Commerce director and now has an office at Gallery for the Arts, 115 S. Main in the heart of the business district.
Deb served as Chamber president for four years at which time her goal was met: filling all of the business places on Main Street. In 2016 she was named Hardin County Citizen of the Year.
Those interested in inquiring about starting or expanding a business or industry may reach her at 419-788-9459 or stopping by the Gallery which is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
A rail study is underway to explore re-routing Ada's through-town railroad tracks to bypass the village.
If successful, the current railroad tracks that pass through Ada would be removed and replaced with two possible alternatives. A spur would still connect the elevator on the west side of Ada to the mainline, but it would not cross Main Street.
Southern alternative – this plan would create a new rail route (bypass) from the west at approximately Township Road 25. It could loop as far south as State Route 309 and then reconnect with the line on the east side of Ada near Township Road 65.

Spring arrives.
Suddenly it seems there’s an event planned every day in Ada.
It takes eight pages of single-spaced type to track all these Ada April and May events, and Darlene Bowers, our calendar complier, shares it all with Icon viewers.
Ada April and May Hometown Happenings includes:
• Community events
• Ada schools
• Ohio Northern University
• The Freed Center
• ONU Observatory
• The Inn at ONU
• Public meetings
• Village service schedule
• Ada Public Library
The calendar is attached as a Word document, so it’s printer-friendly, ready to print and post on your bulletin board.
