Free and reduced-price meals policy announced for Ada Schools

Application forms are distributed to all homes in a letter to parents or guardians 

Ada Exempted Village Schools has announced its 2024-2025 program year policy for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack or Special Milk Programs. 

Memorial service for Vicky Lynn Shadley (nee Wibright)

Vicky Lynn Shadley (nee Wibright), age 65, of Horicon, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Center for Advanced Care at Froedtert Hospital.

Academic Boosters will meet at War Memorial Park, August 5

The Ada Academic Boosters will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 5 at the park. New Academic Boosters officers for 2024-2025 are President Sara Bryan, Vice President Jennifer Lambdin, Treasurer Cara Carl and Secretary Tara Wagner.

Soroptimist of Kenton Hardin County to host Mad Hatter's High Tea

Soroptimist of Kenton Hardin County will be holding their first Mad Hatter High Tea Party on Sunday, August 11 to spread community awareness and raise money to help women and girls in Hardin County. 

Attendees will enjoy finger sandwiches, petit fours, scones, hot and cold tea and a lemonade bar.

July 31 Community Meal

St. Mark Lutheran Church--located at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson Streets in Ada--will be having their monthly community meal on Wednesday, July 31, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., or whenever supplies run out. 

The meal is free and open to the public. This month's menu is a slightly lighter fare.  The meal will consist of a sub sandwich, chips, fruit and cookies.  You may dine in, carry out or drive up for curbside service.

Phil II Nichols served in the U.S. Marines

Phil II Nichols, age 69, of Ada, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 27, 2024.  

He was born on June 7, 1955 in Lima, Ohio to the late Phil and Evo Erleen (Allen) Nichols.  On August 27, 1982, Phil married Sherill R. Moore and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2022. 

Phil is survived by his four children: Alicia Hogan of Miami, OK, Howard Hogan of Grove, OK, Russ (Nichole) King of Lima and Sarah (Rollin) Carver of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers: Harvey Andrew Nichols of Bryan and Billy Joe Nichols of Mendon; and a sister, Sarah Cunningham of Mendon.
