Oceanographer Keiser Distinguished Lectureship speaker Sept. 18

Ohio Northern University will host a lecture by leading oceanographer and author Dr. Sylvia A. Earle in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Earle’s presentation is part of the Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences program, named in honor of Terry D. Keiser, an ONU alumnus and professor of biological sciences. The Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences brings nationally prominent life sciences scholars to ONU’s campus each year to lecture and interact with students for a week. The Keiser Lectureship was the first program of its kind at Ohio Northern.

Public Meeting for Upcoming Village Projects Scheduled
The Ada Village Council will host a public meeting on Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Ada Community Health Professionals Building.

Thorarensen scores twice as No. 18 Women's Soccer tops Wooster

Sophomore Sandra Thorarensen scored two goals in an eight minute span to lead the No. 18 Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Wooster Sunday morning.

The Polar Bears are now 2-0-2 on the season while the Fighting Scots fall to 3-1-1.

The teams played a scoreless first half, but ONU got on the board quickly in the second half thanks to Thorarensen.

She fired a shot off of a throw in to give ONU the 1-0 lead in the 46th minute.

Sophomore Kristina Klusek and junior Sandy Plunkett picked up the assists on the play.

Women's Golf opens 2012-13 season with ninth place finish at Denison Invitational

The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its 2012-13 season with a ninth place finish at the Denison Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Granville Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (2-8) finished with 767 strokes on the Par 72, 6210-yard course.

Wittenberg won the team title with 652 strokes, Denison was second with 669 strokes and Otterbein was third with 672 strokes.

Sophomore Megan Conley led Ohio Northern with a 30th place finish out of 76 golfers with an 87-91—178.
