Flags fly at half mast in remembrance of Texas school shooting victims

Safer Ohio tip line reminder

In accordance with the orders issued by the President of the United States of America and in remembrance of the 19 children and 2 teachers who were killed in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Governor DeWine has ordered that the flags of the United States and the State of Ohio be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the State of Ohio until sunset on May 28, 2022.

The Safer Ohio program provides ways to report suspicious activity, request roadside help and real-time traffic.

11th Annual Safe Haven purse bingo

Safe Haven of Hardin County is hosting the 11th Annual Designer Purse Bingo event on Saturday, July 23 at the Kenton Moose Lodge, 801 W. Lima St.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Admission is $35 ($40 at the door) and includes 15 games of Bingo, heavy hors d'oevres, silent auction, 50/50, raffle item, wallet raffle.

John & Toni's joins sponsors of Made in Ada festival

On Friday, May 21, John & Toni's Restaurant/Lounge presented a $1000.00 donation towards the Made In Ada Wilson Football Festival. Ada Area Chamber of Commerce President Becky Neville accepted the donation from owner Tammy Downing, pictured here with the restaurant staff.

Vikki Sue Scott graduated from Upper Scioto Valley High School

Vikki Sue Scott, age 61, passed away peacefully the morning of May 21, 2022. She was born to parents Velma and Robert Scott in Lima, Ohio.  She proudly grew up in Alger, Ohio, where she graduated from Upper Scioto Valley High School.  She then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in political science from Bowling Green State University. Vikki grew up in the First United Methodist Church, Alger and later attended the Covenant Church in Bowling Green.

Alger trustees reschedule May meeting to the 31st

The Alger Library's May Board of Trustees public meeting has been changed to May 31 at 6 p.m., to allow parents/grandparents to attend the school awards ceremony.

Board members are Tim LuceWireman, president; Craig Decker, vice president; Jane Wilcox, secretary; Lori Dyer; Rhonda Hunt and Katherine Moore.
