Norma J. Rex worked for the Alger Elevator

Norma J. Rex, age 87, of Harrod, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Vancrest of Ada. 

She was born on January 16, 1937 in Ada, Ohio to the late Robert and Gertrude (Robnolte) LaRue. Norma was previously married to Danny Preston. On March 21, 1982 Norma married Craig Rex and he preceded her in death in May 2017. 

Norma is survived by her eight children: William (Barbara) Preston, Cathy (John) Petersen, Mike (Julie) Rex, Sandra (Jim) Corbet, Sharon Cole, Susan (Mark) Underwood, Shelly (Pete) Ehora and Sheryl (Mark) Stumbaugh; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Butch (Linda) LaRue of Ada.

Proposed "Citizens Not Politicians" Amendment

LIMA—The League of Women Voters of the Lima Area will sponsor a public presentation on the proposed Citizens Not Politicians Constitutional Amendment, which will be on the Ohio ballot in November. The presentation will take place at the Lima Public Library Memorial Room (1st floor) on Monday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m.

Ada Bulldog volleyball drops BVC opener to Eagles

ADA – The Ada High School volleyball team lost its first-ever Blanchard Valley Conference match in straight sets to visiting Liberty-Benton on September 4.

The Bulldogs fell to 3-4 overall this season and 0-1 in the BVC after the 25-9, 25-13, 25-21 loss.

L-B improved to 2-3 and 1-0 in BVC play with the victory.

“We knew Liberty would be good, as they always are,” said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. “I am very proud of our team for not giving up after set one, and even after the second set.

Ada Bulldog golfers down Spartans

BLUFFTON – The Ada High School boys golf team defeated Lima Senior convincingly in a dual match Wednesday evening at the Bluffton Golf Course.

Ada improved to 6-4 this season with a decisive 205-235 win.

Sophomore Brody Rister and senior Ethan Lawrence tied for Bulldog team honors as they both shot a back nine score of 48.

“It was a beautiful, busy evening on the course,” said Ada head coach Kurt Klingler. “Brody and Ethan played well. We still have a little work to do with chipping and putting.

“Too many three-putts or missed birdie and par putts. We will keep working,” he added.

In 1971, the Who released their album Who’s Next, which deviated from their more traditional rock style. The band formed in London in 1964 with members Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon. The band was influential in the 1960s and 1970s rock era and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
