ONU men's basketball opener a 72-65 victory over Saint John Fisher

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team opened its 2021-22 season with a 72-65 victory over a very good Saint John Fisher (N.Y.) squad in the opening game of the Case Western Reserve Bill Sidlack Tournament on Saturday night, November 6, at Horsburgh Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears (1-0 overall) will advance to the championship game on Sunday at 3 pm against either Case Western Reserve or Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Cardinals (0-1), who are receiving votes in the D3hoops.com preseason Division III poll, fall to the consolation game at 1 pm on Sunday.

Junior Landen Long (Mason) led four Northern players on double figures in scoring with 14 points.

November 10 Ada Schools closed

At 8:41 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, the Ada Schools announced that schools is closed for the day.

Reminder: Ada High School veterans breakfast

Reminder: Ada High School will be providing breakfast to the veterans in our community, on Nov. 11, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

Guests are asked to please enter using the doors from the south parking lot. Look for American flags lining the sidewalk.

Red Cross Blood Drive on Nov. 22

Visiting Nurses & Hospice, 1200 S. Main St., will host a Red Cross blood drive on from 11:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m. on November 22.

There are 3 openings for Power Red donations (more info here): 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.

Closed for Veterans' Day, November 11

The Ada Post Office and non-essential Federal Government offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11. Did you know the holiday was moved to create 3-day weekends during 1971-74? This proved unpopular and was revoked.

ONU’s Woods, Baxter lead All-OAC Volleyball; Kuhn named Coach of the Year

Ohio Northern senior Melina Woods (Ada) and freshman Taylor Baxter (Bellevue) have been named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference First Team, joining senior Kiki Carle (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) and freshmen Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) and Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) on the 2021 All-Conference Volleyball Team in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Baxter was also selected as the OAC Freshman of the Year.

Jennings and Carle were Second Team selections, and Wagner rounded out the ONU quintet as an Honorable Mention pick.
