Rev. Ed Jarrell was a minister for the Full Gospel Tabernacle

Rev. Forest “Ed” Jarrell, age 76, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 2:25 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on September 2, 1945, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Wesley and Louise (Mullins) Jarrell.  On July 24, 1965, Ed married Linda J. Curtis and she survives in Ada.   

Also surviving are his two sons: Brian (Deborah) Jarrell of Lima and Shaun (Shana) Jarrell of Lima; six grandchildren: Logan, Holly, Trevor, Hailey, Hunter and Hannah; and a brother and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Ada library board wraps up 2021 with Dec 13 meeting

Omicron variant

Omicron is the fifteenth letter in the Greek alphabet. In astronomy, omicron designates the fifteenth star in a constellation group. The constellation Andromeda includes the star Omicron Andromedae that is approximately 692 light-years from Earth.

In 1662, astronomer Johannes Hevelius renamed the star Mira because it acted like no other star.  Mira in Latin is translated as wonderful or astonishing. Mira is predicted to be visible at its maximum brightness again on July 16, 2022.

Keith Bolen was a millwright

Keith Bolen, age 64, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 27, 1957, in Lima, Ohio to Curtis and Bonnie (Conley) Bolen.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in McGuffey.  Keith was previously married to Yolanda Bolen, they were divorced and she survives in Ada.  His life partner Paula Barkley survives in Ada.

Bulldog boys lose to more physical Musketeers

The Ada boys basketball team lost to visiting Fort Jennings 60-35 Saturday night, November 27, one day after opening the season with a buzzer-beating win.

Musketeer freshman Jarron Swick poured in a game-high 24 points to lead the visitors to victory.

Ada fell to 1-1 with the non-league defeat, while FJ evened its mark at 1-1 with the win.

"They were the tougher, more physical team," said Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "They had a tough loss the night before and came in ready. We were not eager.
